According to Quran, we cannot declare anything Haram if it is not mentioned in Quran. Quran provided complete list of Haram (Prohibited Things) and besides that everything which we like we can do or consume. It is true for everything being Halal or Haram.
Quran/Allah does not ordinate Silk and Gold as Haram for men so we cannot teach it preach it as part of our Deen. If some people think it is truly what Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) said then go ahead, no harm in doing so however saying that its prohibited in Deen or Islam is wrong. You will not be judged whether you wore gold or silk because its not forbidden in Quran. Allah has made this Deen very easy to follow, don't make it hard.
ہم نے تم پر قرآن اس لیے نازل نہیں کیا کہ تم تکلیف اٹھاؤ, بلکہ اس شخص کو نصیحت دینے کے لئے (نازل کیا ہے) جو خوف رکھتا ہے
We have not sent down the Qur'an to thee to be (an occasion) for thy distress, But only as an admonition to those who fear (Allah),20:2-3
Some Ayah's to make it clear how sinful it is to declare anything as Haram, even prophet Muhammad (pbuh) was not allowed to do so.
ے نبی آپ کیوں حرام کرتے ہیں جو الله نے آپ کے لیے حلال کیا ہے آپ اپنی بیویوں کی خوشنودی چاہتے ہیں اور الله بخشنے والا نہایت رحم والا ہے
O Prophet! Why holdest thou to be forbidden that which Allah has made lawful to thee? Thou seekest to please thy consorts. But Allah is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful. 66:01
It is not allowed to make anything unlawful without Allah's order.
اے ایمان والو! جو پاکیزہ چیزیں اللہ نے تمہارے لئے حلال کی ہیں انہیں (اپنے اوپر) حرام مت ٹھہراؤ اور نہ (ہی) حد سے بڑھو، بیشک اللہ حد سے تجاوز کرنے والوں کو پسند نہیں فرماتا
O ye who believe! make not unlawful the good things which Allah hath made lawful for you, but commit no excess: for Allah loveth not those given to excess. 5:87
فرما دیجئے: اﷲ کی اس زینت (و آرائش) کو کس نے حرام کیا ہے جو اس نے اپنے بندوں کے لئے پیدا فرمائی ہے اور کھانے کی پاک ستھری چیزوں کو (بھی کس نے حرام کیا ہے)؟ فرما دیجئے: یہ (سب نعمتیں جو) اہلِ ایمان کی دنیا کی زندگی میں (بالعموم روا) ہیں قیامت کے دن بالخصوص (انہی کے لئے) ہوں گی۔ اس طرح ہم جاننے والوں کے لئے آیتیں تفصیل سے بیان کرتے ہیں
Who hath forbidden the beautiful (gifts) of Allah, which He hath produced for His servants, and the things, clean and pure, (which He hath provided) for sustenance? Say: They are, in the life of this world, for those who believe, (and) purely for them on the Day of Judgment. Thus do We explain the signs in detail for those who understand. 7:32
فرما دیجئے: ذرا بتاؤ تو سہی اللہ نے جو (پاکیزہ) رزق تمہارے لئے اتارا سو تم نے اس میں سے بعض (چیزوں) کو حرام اور (بعض کو) حلال قرار دے دیا۔ فرما دیں: کیا اللہ نے تمہیں (اس کی) اجازت دی تھی یا تم اللہ پر بہتان باندھ رہے ہو
"See ye what things Allah hath sent down to you for sustenance? Yet ye hold forbidden some things thereof and (some things) lawful." Say: "Hath Allah indeed permitted you, or do ye invent (things) to attribute to Allah?" 10:59
اور وہ جھوٹ مت کہا کرو جو تمہاری زبانیں بیان کرتی رہتی ہیں کہ یہ حلال ہے اور یہ حرام ہے اس طرح کہ تم اللہ پر جھوٹا بہتان باندھو، بیشک جو لوگ اللہ پر جھوٹا بہتان باندھتے ہیں وہ (کبھی) فلاح نہیں پائیں گے
But say not - for any false thing that your tongues may put forth,- "This is lawful, and this is forbidden," so as to ascribe false things to Allah. For those who ascribe false things to Allah, will never prosper.16:116
ان سے کہہ دو اپنے گواہ لاؤ جو اس بات کی گواہی دیں کہ الله نے ان چیزوں کو حرام کیا ہے پھر اگر وہ ایسی گواہی دیں توتو ان کا اعتبار نہ کر اور جنہوں نے ہماری آیتوں کو جھٹلایا ہے اور جو آخرت پریقین نہیں رکھتے اور وہ اوروں کو اپنے رب کے برابر کرتے ہیں
Say: "Bring forward your witnesses to prove that Allah did forbid so and so." If they bring such witnesses, be not thou amongst them: Nor follow thou the vain desires of such as treat our signs as falsehoods, and such as believe not in the Hereafter: for they hold others as equal with their Guardian-Lord.6:150
